Flightseeing

"There is something to be said about feeling insignificant in the midst of nature and being able to experience the power and size of the great outdoors."

McCarthy Air, flight-seeing against the slopes of 16,390 ft. Mt. Blackburn

A dramatic unnamed peak in the Twaharpies gives significance to the size of this park.

In Chitistone Gorge, the Chitistone slide, in the right side of this photo, choked off the river in the mid-80's and has since been eroded enough to allow water to flow.

The Malaspina Glacier.

Flying with McCarthy Air over Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, whose girth is upwards of 13 million acres, gives perspective to the meaning of visiting the least visited, largest national park in North America.  Flightseeing with us offers large parties (up to 7 passengers) and intimate flights (up to 3 people) both opportunities to view this land in the ultimate form of sight-seeing.  As you soar effortlessly over 16,000+ foot peaks, smoldering volcanoes, braided rivers, glacial expanses, milky green lakes, dramatic waterfalls through striated canyons and the area's historical mining artifacts, keep and eye out for the occasional hiker or abundant wildlife to grasp the scale of this magnificent park.  Bear, Dall sheep, mountain goats, moose, buffalo, caribou and wolves are among the wildlife you may catch a glimpse of on your flight.

McCarthy Air offers flightseeing for up to 7 passengers per flight at the approximate rate (difficulty and distance of flight are both factors) of $120 per person per hour of flight time.  We can plan a route to fit your interests or you may want to peruse a map and plan your own route to see the scenery you are interested in--just let us know where you want to go!  Photographers--ask about special tours tailored just for you!  Call or email us to schedule the flight of your choice.

A flightsee-er witnesses the dynamics of this region as a glacier calves ice into a lake at its terminus.
